Bush Fire Brigade Program
In 2013, Mitsui E&P Australia’s predecessor AWE donated to the Warradarge, Green Head and Leeman Bush Fire Brigades for the purchase of equipment that the Emergency Services Levy does not provide.
The equipment purchased included heart defibrillator equipment, a remote area lighting system, off road recovery mats, high performance lights for fire fighting vehicles, water nozzles for the fire truck, portable fridge/freezer and a compressor.
Brigade members are regularly called on for assistance with bush fires, power pole fires and accidents along Brand Highway and provide an invaluable service to the local community. MEPAU is proud to support the fire brigades keeping the local Mid West community safe.
“We appreciate the gift of these items by AWE. Our volunteers spend many hours each year fighting fires in this area with little acknowledgement for the efforts they put in, covering an area much of which is National Parks and Reserves. These donations will go along (sic) way to show that others are interested in the work they carry out, not just to protect their own land, but areas which the general public have the opportunity to enjoy.
On behalf of Warradarge Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade thank you and I await further instructions.”
Heather Sewell, Secretary of the Warradarge Bush Fire Brigade
MEPAU continues to support Bushfire Efforts
MEPAU supports bushfire fundraisers organised by local community groups.
In November 2019 MEPAU contributed to the Dongara Denison Volunteer Fire Brigade through the fundraiser organised by Dongara Mitre 10, and in January 2020 MEPAU contributed to a bushfire fundraising auction organised by Southerlys Tavern in Dongara.
Mitsui & Co. (Australia) donated $200,000 to assist communities in the east of Australia to rebuild and recover after the January 2020 fires.
