MEPAU is continuing the Waitsia Stage 1 Expansion, and other operational activities, while adapting and responding to the ever-changing conditions brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.

We are taking all possible steps to ensure the health and safety of our employees and contractors, as well as their families and the communities in which they live and operate.

We are working with state and federal governments to ensure we’re complying with all regulations and protocols developed specifically for COVID-19 management at resources sites.

We are prioritising local and Western Australian personnel for this project, and other ongoing activities, reducing the need for interstate workers.

All personnel and contractors have to complete a COVID-19 self-assessment questionnaire prior to travel being approved and then they are required to carry a travel authorisation letter from their employer. Once on-site, compliance with additional management measures is required.

A secure energy supply is vitally important to all Australians, and our industry is working hard to maintain and improve Western Australia’s supply. The Waitsia Stage 1 Expansion is an important part of that effort.

Once completed we will be supplying 20 TJ of gas per day to consumers in the WA market. To grasp the scale, 20 TJ is enough energy to supply over 400 000 homes with hot water for a day.

The economic contribution of Australia’s oil and gas industry is particularly crucial as other parts of the economy are impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Please contact us if you have any comments about how we’re responding to the COVID-19 pandemic or want to know more about our activities.

As usual, on the day we posted this news to the website we sent an email to everyone who has asked to be kept updated. If you didn’t receive an email and would like to in future, please add your details here.
