On 4 November, the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) posted notification of its decision to assess the Waitsia Gas Project Stage 2 proposal and that the Chairman’s Determination was Assess – Referral Information.  This means that the EPA considers MEPAU provided sufficient information to undertake the assessment when we self-referred the proposal.

As part of its decision, the EPA has requested MEPAU provide some additional information in the form of management plans. These management plans will be subject to a two-week public review and released with the EPA’s report and recommendations.  During the public review period, the EPA will make these documents available on its website.  In addition, MEPAU will include a link to the management plans from our Mid-West website and we’ll undertake additional stakeholder engagement activities including a community information exchange session.

Additional information about the proposal assessment process is available on the EPA’s website.
