We’re celebrating International Day of Women and Girls in Science by profiling some of Mitsui E&P Australia’s women in science.

Lara Centa is our Senior Environmental Advisor working with the Operations team. Lara helps manage our licence to operate in the Perth Basin by overseeing our environmental management – such as vegetation, fauna, waste and decommissioning – ensuring what we’re doing is in alignment with approvals and legislation.

Lara kicked off her career by completing an Environmental Science and Marine Science double major at Murdoch University and said her biggest hurdle to pursuing her passion was moving from the country to the city to live and study.

“I’d definitely advocate for a career in science – I’ve seen some amazing sights and learnt and experienced so much.”

“I was always interested in the environment, growing up surrounded by the ocean and bush.”

“I’ve now been working in the Resource industry for 15 years, and it’s taken me all over WA as well as places in the NT, Victoria and Singapore.”
